Here you have two possible maps the current settings may generate. Huge ocean, a world wide continent and some islands. These test maps were done with 43 players.

Is there a way to avoid those circles at the "poles"?

We can disable the poles from the ruleset. Those are just glaciers with these settings and no one starts from there.
