The early game and the triremes

It's probable that I will not be changing this for LT34 because it would be a huge change and we already have lots of changes. However I'm asking opinions about this because it would solve some issues.
It's possible that there can't be a setting or an easy enough task for someone who is not playing, allowing all the players to access other players with triremes. That would require someone to check (and rebuilding after rebuilding) the map for not having deep ocean blocking anyone. Without tech trading this is of course not that important but it's still something people might want to do for getting early allies.
The option would be allowing the triremes to travel on deep ocean but at the same time reducing the moves they have. A trireme can now move 9 tiles / turn and it would be reduced to 6 or 3 tiles if deep ocean travel was possible. So, what do you think? Would that solve anything or just make the early game strange and unfamiliar to play? The triremes could actually have 3,4,5 or 6 moves
Please comment as soon as possible. We may have the test game running in a day or two and all the changes should be there before that happens. We cat have votes but a simple yes or no will do. Of course if you are interested to explain why, it would be cool
