Diplomat Whining Thread

I (as California) just lost a city to a Diplomat Incitement which was being actively defended by a Diplomat.
It is now my duty to complain about RNG and how the system is broken and unfair.

Also unfair: I tried a couple incitements of cities which were illegally settled in on my doorstep, but THOSE failed! And there weren't even any defending Diplomats!

Important fix Wieder: you need to make diplochance both lower AND higher. Maybe tweak the RNG so it only rolls high for me, and low for my enemies. That would have the same effect, and greatly improve the game.

Now I have an even more serious beef against Diplomats: Incitement of a city TRANSFERS OWNERSHIP OF THE ENTIRE GARRISON. But only of the nation that got incited. Allied forces get would expelled from the city, but the home-nation's army (which could be from anywhere), all change ownership?

The chance of success can be altered (defending diplomat) or the cost of victory can be raised (courthouse), but it all comes down to the result of a single die-roll.

I really really dislike the "All or nothing" nature of Diplomat activity. They fail like flies splatting against a windshield until suddenly they succeed with a total and overwhelming victory. I have enjoyed this victory once, but would give it up to change this ridiculous mechanic.

Also, Wieder forgot to alter the RNG as requested.

Hans you are missing some of the more interesting oddities of incitement - Incitement of a city TRANSFERS OWNERSHIP not only OF THE ENTIRE GARRISON but also the home-nation's units that were housed in the city and are presently within city borders. The interesting oddities occur when there are multiple units stacked and one of them changes ownership. For instance when a loaded trireme changes ownership but the units inside the trireme are housed elsewhere. Or when a large number of units from various cities are stacked on a fortress and one of them changes ownership.

You are going to have an even better time once everyone researches espionage.
Diplomat annoyance pales into insignificance to the havoc you can wreak with spies.

OK, so what would happen, in case of revolt of city, which is home to a trireme carrying allied troops?
Server crash?
Within my modpack I added boats, which were capturable, and capture of loaded boat caused crash because boat changed ownership, whereas loaded unit remain intact (instead, they should jump and swim to the nearest - 200 m down - solid ground).

Incitement question: If you have 2 Diplomats defending a city, and an Enemy diplomat attempts incitement and defeats one of the Defenders, does the city Revolt?

I think not. All his attempts to do anything are first opposed by existing diplomats/spies. Diplomatic battle ensues and only after there is nobody defending, the attacker can try an action.
