I thought I'd jumpstart the formation of teams by taking some initiative.

We will have 5 teams, and they will each be named after the 5 colors in "Magic: The Gathering" and/or "Master of Magic".
This post will serve to keep track of who is on what team.
Step 1: All Captains must choose a color!
A Captain fundamentally has to be responsible enough to speak FOR the team, and speak TO the team. They don't need to be the most skilled, just be in charge of making sure the team *works*.
Step 2: Captains should create a player preference list with as many players as they wish. A fair algorithm will distribute players onto teams.
Step 3: Players wishing to play together can arrange swaps with other teams, provided their captains do not object.


Listed Below is the limited team selection that took place before the new plan. These team assignments are no longer guaranteed.

It looks a little lonely here, so I'll start by claiming the captaincy of GREEN TEAM.

Please reply here if you are willing to be a team captain. If we can't make teams then this game will be teamless.

I am willing to be a team leader, however I am relatively new to LT and don't want to step on any toes of the more experienced players that might want to be a team lead. If I was going to be a leader, I think Blue/Sorcery would be my pick. I am also happy to be on any team as a member.

Teams can be disbanded easier than they can be formed. Form teams now, decide if we like it later.

Indeed. It's more easy to disband at a later time.

Another thing is that even if the game is teamless you can ally with the players you like before the game even starts. In this case please try to be fair and don't form an alliance including all the top players

Now, here is another idea. I'm not sure if this would work but here it is anyway:

Tech trading off even inside teams. We could set up a game with max 6 winners. The 6 winners scenario would be for players playing teamless. However there could be also teams but those teams would have max 3 or 4 members to compensate the advantage the players will get from playing with others from start. No tech trading but gold trading enabled with maybe 20% gold tax.

Why tech trading off inside teams? In case of small teams, tech trading make sense.

BTW, how team recruitment looks like?

If LT45 is going to be a team game, we can have tech trading enabled inside teams. However if it's teamless or mixed teamless teams game then tech trading will be off.

Any unusual color works for me. So I'll join Hans Lemurson on team Green, if it's OK with him

Requests to join a particular team will also be honored. If teams look unbalanced, then we can discuss trading players around like footballers.

(I'm not 100% sure yet on how one would go about contacting each of the potential players...we may have to end up assigning them to teams if they cannot be contacted.)

If they cannot be contacted, then you don’t want them on the team.

What if I want to be just team member? And what if I want to play with certain other player in same team?

Why is everybody here afraid to make a fixed proposal? We can debate this forever, there is never a perfect solution. There is a thread somewhere with my proposal, also Fran suggested a new element which addsup to my proposal quite nicely. It’s a bit difficult for me to search for it now because I’m on a mobile, but look for it. Please everybody say aye or nay. Also, I propose the following team leaders as per my and Fran’sproposal: Hand, Wieder, Cgalik, Zoltan, Xandr, LordP, Dim, Soon (hehe, dim-soon ). In no particular order. If anyone else wants it badly, he goes in front. If anyone doesn’t want it, he’s off t(e list.

Please vote or make a new proposal.

Well we just need the team captains who are able to pick team member in turn once the signups close.

Like I mentioned earlier, I am fine being a team member. Just put my name in hat for a leader spot in an attempt to keep the process moving. I am totally fine deferring to more seasoned players. I can play on any team.

Oh, I'm nominated as a leader haha. Well if it comes to that no one else wants to step forward (hello old timers?) I could do it for whatever color. I certainly know very little about majority of the players, so I doubt I can take good picks unassisted. At the same time I'd love to play a team game so if that's what it takes then sign me up.

Could you explain in more detail what you mean by a "Fixed Proposal"?
