Server maintenance will close the games and web for 2-3 days

We just got info that there will be some huge maintenance operations that will also affect the server longturn.org is using. It means that the server will be down and both the games and the web forum will be unreachable when that happens.

All times CET.

The server maintenance will start - probably - some time next Saturday afternoon December 15th and will most likely end at Monday December 17th.

So the question is, when to extend the turns?

The turn that got interrupted should restart at the moment of server restart and last 2*23 hours.

Treat this the same as the Christmas break.
Set a 4*23 hour turn on Saturday morning.
The break should be fixed beforehand regardless of what happens to the server.

I agree with Kevin. It's easier for delegations/planning/etc. if we know in advance what's going to happen.

Also, everybody should keep in mind that the last moves, between the last save (every hour, right?) and server shutdown will not be saved and will need to be made again. Would make room for some nice abuses, but fortunately, nobody knows when exactly that may happen

It's about noon on Saturday December 15th - we're about 12 hours into turn 79.
The game is online with no changes to the time limits.

By announcing a server shutdown some players will not be logging on this weekend.
What happens if the server doesn't shutdown?

Six hours later - the server is still up but timeout has been extended.

The turns are now extended. Let's see when the actual maintenance happens.

It is now 14.20 Sunday afternoon CET. The game and website are still up. It seems server maintenance hasn't happened yet.
21 hours and 37 mins until TC.

Given that the announcement was  ''some time next Saturday afternoon December 15th and will most likely end at Monday December 17th'', we don't need to do anything else at the moment.
Everyone should be back on Monday, we will all find out if the  server maintenance occurs.
