Nobody remembered to set the generator... I want to start the game soon (tomorrow) so I hope nobody minds me setting it to FRACTAL. It also seems landmass=60 generates a more interesting map, if nobody objects I'll change it as well. Here are some sample maps:

You can connect and see if everything is alright. Host lt30.longturn.org port 5030. I've allowed /observe. This is just a test server, everything will be reset when the game starts.

Steepness was also not set. I propose 60. The sample server runs with this setting. If anybody objects I'll create a poll and delay the game start until it finishes.

Definitely fractal, cause I don't like the boring random noise-like map (maybeinteresting only for tactical warfare, definitely not for strategical).
In this very case, the landmass=50 picture seems to be less interesting than the =60 ones, but I think it is just a matter of luck. IMHO, the less landmass (e.g. 30, or even 20), the best, but I can also live with =50 or =60.
Just please let it be fractal (and if possible tinyisland ON please please!!!)

IMHO there should be more then one continent but there is no good option to generate maps like these...
For our last game at freeciv.fi we had to go through 50+ maps with a script (it's there: https://github.com/Aloril/FreeCiv-scripts) before I found statistically good map.

I agree with your proposal Dude (fractal, landmass=60, steepness=60). I hope we don't need to postpone game-start because it might create idlers, right now everyone is ready to start.

I think fractal and landmass=60 are good but steepness=60 is too much. That many hills/mountains make it extremely hard to conquer cities/forts and the game takes much longer.
Also, more than 1 continent would indeed be better.
