Selecting the team for LT44

We could try doing the teams with two team captains. The role for the captain would be picking the players but the captain would become a regular player once the game starts. For picking the players me and the two captains would need to be online at the same time. Maybe on Discord or on IRC? Both pick a player on turns and I'll randomly choose who will start.

Please comment here if you would like to be a team captain.

Hell, no! I'm definitely not the oldest here and I don't know how people play. Seriously. I don't know how people play.

I'm aware that you may want to avoid bad feelings if people (don't) get chosen over some others, but let me be the first to say that whoever gets frustrated for not being chosen in the first, I don't know, four, is an idiot.

As for who gets to be the captain, I'd make it drastically simple: best two people on the LT scoring table. End of story. You don't get to say "no"

Or, if you wish, the best two people from, which was it, LT40? Or one best from each.

Ok, I checked the ranking tables for LT an also winners list from LT40. It seems a LOT of good players are not playing so I had check many people. (Also, the LT ranking table on the site seems terribly outdated. Is there a newer one?)

So.

Best LT player who will be playing LT44 is cgalik.

Best LT41 player who will be playing LT44, ok, well, the winners were Wieder, cgalik and chill. Wieder is not playing.

So, I propose that team captains are cgalik as the overall best available player and Chill as the freshest best available player.

The sole purpose of the team captain is to choose the team.

Check the forum post, Kryon updated them in a post, but maybe the web server didn't get updated.

Or we do Europe vs America?

No idea what the splits are nor do I know the freecivweb players.

I say wieder just picks them and if anyone wants to play with a friend, let him or the forum know. This is for fun so we should be able to accommodate.

You are allegedly a very good player (at least that's what the word goes in LT43

) Soon is also a very good player. I'd rather leave the decision like that to the captain.

Speaking of which, I made a proposition a few days ago: Cgalik and Chill. Nobody said anything. So what will it be?

This is a game and by design unfair starting locations, etc. So to me I don't get too wrapped up in perfectly fair teams. So should be fine.

Wieder, when we are ready to choose teams, could you send out an email to the registered players asking if they have someone they want to play with on the same team,? Or against I guess

Soon didn't confirm participation. At least not yet. I sent him email but no reply yet.

Chill didn't say that he would be picking the players for his team so maybe I could pick the players with cgalik. I could pick one, cgalik one, I pick one... could do that reasonably fast in discord. Or maybe corbeau would like to be picking the team with cgalik?

I'm sure there will be surprises

If wieder picks players but does not play himself he should start with picking two players.
One player because at the start the team wieder picks for is one player behind and the second
player because the team wieder picks for should be that one that starts picking.
That is because the only real top player is in the other team.

fran's approach seems reasonable since wieder is not playing, he can be fair arbiter for first two. Then those two start picking players?

Hehe everything so complicated.

Last LT two team game we even switched a player after picking teams, so it doesn't have to be final.
