Making the bigger empires harder to get/maintain?

Post by wieder »

This is from the LT39 in-game chat.

"I think we need to increase cost of attacking units, and also corruption/unrest due to citie numbers... how to explain a stable civilisation with so many towns!"

Probably not possible to make the changes for LT43 but maybe for the next LT series game. Assuming this makes sense. Then again some people were asking if LT43 might be too hard for making wars because of the restrictinfra enabled.

Unhappy-due-to-number-of-cities, but a sane step, between 5 and 10, not 20 like the default, or 1 like in LT40. This would make the unhappiness noticeable and force the ruler to do something about it, while at the same time not cripple him and make him decide that he doesn't really need to expand at all, which is the case in LT40.

In other words, exactly what I've been proposing for a while, but was ignored.

Since I have a ton of towns in LT39... Its not like I really wanted them and they are not as easy to mantain since I need many happiness buildings. Besides, with that big number of cities you start missing things. I feel like a japanese electronic devise producer who has lost sight over what his key product is and quality suffers.
I agree, its quite easy to hide behind walls.

I'm tired of this "Player A wants this, player B wants that, player C wants to win as he always did".

But I'll tell you one thing:
Who is the player that is testing empire size restriction in LT40?
Did /you/ exceed your city limit? Do /you/ know what happens? Please, make a post and explain to us how happiness works.

You're talking like the virgin of childbearing. Nothing crippled your expansion. /You/ just decided to stop.
And you weren't ignored. Your weren't followed. That's a difference.

So perhaps better wait how LT40 will end before prematurely reiterating always the same brabble.

I'm exceeding my limit for a looooong time now and all cities are celebrating. I'm not crippled in any way.

You would probably be taken more seriously if you supplied some content to your post. As it is, you are just complaining that I'm writing stuff. I apologise for having an opinion.

Yes, I did not expand beyond the limit. Did you? If you did, what are your results? If you did and are getting good results, fine, I will hide in the nearest hole.

if you didn't, then what are you babbling about? You are accusing me of not trying and you didn't try it yourself, don't even have an opinion and are whining because I do?

So which is it? Because this crucial piece of information - or any information - is missing from your post.

Anyway, in case you missed it, Wieder asked a question, I offered an answer. Yes, I added some perhaps impertinent comment. Do you have an answer of your own or are you just going to jump at other people's answers?
