A new test game for LT36 has started

Post by wieder »

There are some new players added to the game. The game also has all the latest changes including more start units and settlers costing 3 population.

As usual, please comment if there are something that's not right.

The new cities are size 1. Yeah, you will actually lose a working tile when you build a new city. It should be worth building new cities but I have no idea of when is the optimal time for that.

Yeah, the test game is still online.

If everything goes well we might start in the end of the next week. There needs to be at least week between announcing the start date and starting the game wi you should know soon.

We could use some more players. I'm sending some mails soon. If you know old players who might want to play please let them know. We will also need to decide if the few remaining warnings the server gives are nothing that serious really.

More info will follow and as always, please comment and let us know what you think.

The warnings:

1) Trying to put 98926 into 16 bits; it will result 33390 at receiving side.
2) in player_balance_treasury_units_and_buildings() [cityturn.c::2058]: assertion 'FALSE' failed.

The number 2 may have been fixed but not yet tested.

So nobody else has a problem with settlers costing 3 population?

I guess no since people have not been really complaining about it.

To compensate you get 6 settlers instead of 4 you got in the previous games. There are also 7 workers and no explorer.

The reason for making settlers to cost 3 population comes from good experiences with LW3 using a method basically preventing the players form building more cities by making it impossible to build settlers. LT36 doesn't take it that far but just makes settlers more expensive. Building more cities should still be a good idea but it's no longer that easy to say when to do it.

Sorry about the delayed reply.

A new test game will probably start in 24 hours. +- some hours. I will make another post about it when it does. It doesn't matter if you miss the start since test games have just minutes / turn and it's not a competition.
