LT36: Who wants to participate in a test game for LT36?

Post by wieder »

We will most likely start a set of test games very soon. I'll use the players for LT34 as the players for LT36 but if you were not one of the players of LT34 and want to try out the game, send me a mail or reply here and I'll add you to the players list.

The test game means a non competitive game (or mostly non competitive) where we are using 2-3 minute turns and the players are asked not to completely kill of other players. The purpose of the test game is testing the ruleset and finding errors. If I have changed something, that may not alwasy work as intended and the test games are a great way of figuring out that kind of issues.

If you join a test game but don't have time to play, that's not an issue since a test game is for testing only :)

The game is already online but it's with 23h turns. I guess we could switch to 3 minute turns. I'll ask akfaew about it. The game will be online... Probably days or weeks. It may also be restarted when a new and improved ruleset is installed.

I had some issues with my client crashing on one of my computers but it's probably just because I have some trouble with my client.

You will need a 2.5.x client (2.3.x client will not do).

The address: lt36.longturn.org
port: 5036

As I already said, everyone who played in LT34 already have a nation with this test game. If someone who wasn't playing LT34 want to try it out, reply to this thread and we will add you to the game. Not instantly but when the game is restarted.

There is currently at least one known issue I'll fix at a later time. Cities built on rivers do not have a bridge if you don't know the tech for that. This is a change that was introduced with Freeciv 2.5. There may be some similar issues and we need to find those.

I'm not sure how the map is with LT36 test game. It's using the same map settings LT35 has but as the map generator is apparently different from Freeciv 2.3 there may be some surprises.
