Any way to hide connect/disconnect notifications from chat?

I try to keep up with the in-game chat, but find it pretty tedious because the vast majority of lines are connected/disconnected/turn-blocking. Is there any way to separate the signal from the noise? Using GTK2 client now (OSX), never figured out how to view chat on SDL.

Game -> Options -> Messages -> "Connect/disconnect messages"....
