Japan got in civil war and split up

Post by jhh »

Hi all,

So some of you may have noticed from the event log, that I got what I wanted, a war on my lands. Now the fun just begins for me. However I'm not posting about it.

I would like to see my rival counterpart nation, that was just created, to be given to a real person instead of an AI. It's indeed possible to do that from the server -- we do it on freeciv.fi games since we don't play against AIs (never-ever!).

Of course I should not choose a player myself, and I cannot just "give" it to anybody, but I do have one person in mind, that I'll try to argue to be a good realistic choice for the job.

That player is Sparrow, who I dedicated my game few weeks ago for a week. However Sparrow wasn't sure about taking the nation even himself, he's thinking of it at the moment.

Before I continue any longer, I must declare, that we aren't really good friends or something like that, you know. We have a long history playing Finnish longturn-style games, sure, but usually we have been enemies for each other on those games, few times the last two alive. Perfect choice for a rival, I would say.

So if Sparrow would took the game, we sure might fight for a moment against a common enemy (it's just realistic if there's a bigger enemy eating you), but in the long run we would be playing our own nations. We wouldn't necessary be any kind of allies or something like that. He would be playing it seriously as an independent player.

Anyway I would like to see my rival nation to be given to somebody, if not Sparrow, so what do you think?

Were you talking about Sparrow?

Anyway there's no need for any free tech or gold.

Ryukyuans have 13 cities on three islands, most of my best cities actually. Plenty of "getting started".

I didn't even know you could get a civil war without loosing your capital. But yes, I wanted war. I had nobody to fight.

...BUT I didn't want to fight AIs.

Is is fine with me also. Sparrow or anybody should take the ai or delete the ai from the game.

Fine with me too.

Maybe Monamipierrot could take the Ryukyuans if Sparrow doesn't want to. :p

you need to find 2 people to help you take over the AIs now. Do you have another friend?

Interesting idea. In a game with diplomacy and city giving enabled, handing AIs over to human players seems unfair. But in LT31 it may be possible.

Yeah, Ryukyuans split again, so there's now two AIs to give away (how's this splitting even possible?).

I don't care much who gets the second AI. I personally hate AIs, especially when set as an easy level. They don't even try to defend my cities.

When in the history of longturn have we ever given the AI after a civil war to somebody?

Sure, you can have your alpines. Just wait until your country get's split up in half by a civil war, at that point in time they get added JUST IN TIME to get assigned to the AI that has spawned from what remains of your empire... Good luck taking back what was once yours as alpines guard it!

(Oh... you wanted to just to get some alpines to have under your OWN command... oh dear, they are indeed generous, but not THAT generous, in LT31)

But alpines require tactics, not strategy. :/

Surely I would be allowed to get the AI assigned to my mate, and then they can then go on holiday and delegate his nation to me?! ;-)

This transfer to human player is actually really interesting, since now there is actual historically (in this game) related nations that share common pre-history, which affects their post-history in a way that's not possible without civil wars and actual branching.
