Re: Poll: LTeX23B

There are no winners in LTex game as new players can join anytime. LTex games should not be taken too seriously. But if something is too annoying or unfair, restart might be needed. I don't know the details in the game so I can't comment whether restart is necessary or revert is enough.

There is nothing to stop a player from spawning, building all of their cities and then giving them to a friend, before respawning again...

This can be discussed in subsequent polls though, the main point of this poll is SHOULD LTeX23 BE RESTARTED.

Re: Poll: LTeX23B

If I understand correctly, one of the purposes of an experimental game (possibly its primary purpose) is to find and fix bugs, imbalances, etc., before they are encountered in the "official" (non-experimental) game. If that's the case, then I'd like to point out that if LTeX23 is restarted, it will be about 20-25 moves behind LT30, and thus any bugs and other issues in the later part of the game will be found there, not in x23. I think that this is a Bad Idea.

Re: Poll: LTeX23B

Hmmm, this poll should almost be one that requires a 60% pass rate, considering that it ends the game. An alternative would be to branch (just start a new eX game).

Most LT games don't make it as far in the tech tree as LTeX has already gone. Even the last eX game only just made it as far as the current eX game. The only game I know of where people have had armor/mech inf was the lone wolf game (around LT17?) that terror won.

This is correct. We have already found that the multiplayer ruleset used in LTeX23 was a failure. Hence a new ruleset needs to be discussed and tested before we start LT31. I think you should be looking forward not back. The important discussion is the re-rewonder thread.

I totally agree with this statement. We should discuss a new (wonder) ruleset for LT31.

Re: Poll: LTeX23B

If people want to fight endgame war - go ahead. But we definately need a new ex game to test changes. Some of them affect period before artileries and fighters:)

And one more time - techloss, city trading off:) Before You ask which values of techloss... Its ex game, it doesn`t has to be democratic, just choose whatever you like the most:) If it doesn`t work good we will make a poll later:)

The poll to start a new game with tech loss just finished 9 : 8
Its too close a result to shut down the existing game.

So why not just start a new LTeX game to run concurrently. People who don't like tech loss can stay in the existing game.

Do we have the server capacity for another (large map) eX game? Can the LT30 server host another game? The current CPU usage is quite low, but I guess that it will grow very rapidly.

Re: Poll: LTeX23B

Even though I voted for this poll, I would like to change my vote so that the game doesn't end (as long as people allow it).

Primarily, I don't think a poll that ends the game should win by such a small margin. I agree we need a different ruleset in the eX game, but perhaps we start a new game (if we can find a server) as I have proposed above (and several people have agreed with).

As sgik mentioned, there may also be some advantages to continuing the game - e.g. identifying late game bugs. I know that if the game keeps going then I will keep playing, as I don't get to play with armor and fighters much and it's fun smile

akfaew, do we have server capacity for a new eX game somewhere?
