I have theory of gravity so perhaps the difference is that you altered the wonder code in your client.

I now get the effect of Hoover Dam without the wonder.
This in in the modified GTK client. ( with the wonder fix patch)
More problematic is that this obsoletes the building of new power plants.
The client just crashed when I tried to set production to power plant.

I can no longer connect to the server. Did it crash?
Can a broken client cause a server crash or is it just coincidence.

No, the network where ltex and the database is hosted is of low quality, and it lags greatly today.

Another side effect of the wonder patch - I now get the effects of Marco Polo and Adam Smith on all continents.

I have posted a bug report about this. The modified client shows more info than the standard one.

I noticed today the message "The Channaneans have finished Cure for Cancer". Does everyone else (with an embassy) get these messages about finished wonders?

The patched client just assumes every wonder is in effect. For example, police station is crossed out, even if you don't have womens sufferage.

And i have really built Cure for Cancer.

Wrong. Your patched client shows police stations crossed out because I have women's sufferage.
The point of this bug is that you know that I have the wonder, players with non-modified clients do not.
Of course I know you really have Cure for Cancer.
I can log on with the SDL client to check that the effect I get is real.

Cure of cancer is big wonder, so only 1 nation could built it.
It affects all players with knowledge of genetic engineering.
Of course everyone got message that Channaneans started and finished Cure of Cancer,
so what are you talking about ?
