This is a test game only, it will be restarted. Try if you can log in. Type /observe to observe. Last chance to check settings! I used rulesets from LTeX23B.

OK I logged in and observed the map. It looks nice and balanced.

I noticed two settings to fix:

- Barbarians are enabled.
- Rapture delay is set to 1. We used to play with 3.

In addition (for future):

- Space race is enabled.
- Unreachable units protect reachable ones.

Finally, we should decide whether we shall apply the "timeonserver" patch to limit the online time?

Re: LT31 will start soon

I fixed rapture delay. Spacerace and barbarians had the format changed again (disabled instead of 0). Good you noticed that Kryon, thanks.

timeonserver will be implemented if there are abusers, because many of us genuinely forgot to log out their clients, so no need for that if everybody will play fair.

No chance for fixing unreachable units protecting reachable ones, as probably nobody will write the code.

Good.

I agree. If we could limit only unit move time that'd be great but limiting login is too much.

Are you sure? I noticed a setting in server settings (under military) to change that.

Nice. Can we have a quick poll whether to enable this? Maybe we will start on friday, so a one/two day poll.

I think no need for a poll, it's basically a bug fix (it's only a major issue in longturn, in shortturn it would be impossible to move fighters between strategic stacks and cities for refueling turn after turn; if the bug had turned up in shortturn they would've fixed it from the beginning).

Very good that they solved it, this will open up military strategy again. It will actually be a challenge again to defend strategic positions, rather than just put a fighter and a couple alpines together and you're invincible.

Hi, I noticed you still didn't connect to the open game and move.
I ask you a favour.
I probably spotted a weird bug and I need your help to check if we can reproduce it.
I started with a settler on a mountain and it didn't allow me to found a city there (not even showed the red silhouette). Not only: the settler had only 2 mps, which for a green unwounded settler on a bare mountain, is simply impossible to happen.
When I moved to a plains tile next to the mountain I could spend the last mp to found a city.
I noticed you also starts with a settler on a mountain. Before doing any moves, can you report if it reads 2mps and if you can found a city there?
Thanks.

For the admins and tech knowledgeable: I'm still using the 2.3.1 client with WinXP.

I think it's a normal behavior. Civ2civ3 ruleset doesn't allow you to build a city over mountains. Also, you lose a movement point for the next turn if you finish the former one over a mountain.

thx. So this is a Civ2civ3 ruleset based game?

Re: LT31 will start soon

Yes, akfaew said so in #124.

By the way, I thought there wasn't rapture grow in ltex23b, only additional trade per tile, so I don't think the delay is justified now.

Am I still missing someone?

Re: LT31 will start soon

As I said in mail, you didn't forget me, just some observer took over Liechtensteiners.

So, since I'm new to your merry party (hi everybody : ), I wanna ask a dumb question: how long the test game will take before the real one starts?

akfaew - can we please reduce the turn change to something like 3 minutes (or what ever you think the server can handle)? Then those who have time can try and build more cities and rush some science?

@Akfaew

Is the git/LT31 updated to match the current ruleset? I just downloaded that last night.

Here is the complete ruleset, .serv file and the server binary, for those who want to play around with the settings: http://akfaew.jasminek.net/lt/LT31.tgz

As requested I removed unitwaittime and set the timeout to 180 seconds in our test game.

Keep in mind everybody can take everybody else, this is a test game. To unobserve you need to take some nation.

We haven't done this test server before. I would assume the test would only be 2-3 days, but seeing the server crashed it seems there will have to be some debugging....

Re: LT31 will start soon

Hello,
given that there are some problems with the server, I would like to ask if it is possible to get some information on the

-- starting time of LT31 / possible starting time of LT31
-- on how to register/log-in/play the game
-- what software to use (Freeciv 2.3.x e.g. is 2.3.2 OK?)

I have read the information on the longturn website - however, I am not able to confirm my participation in the game, nor am I able to log into the server.

Thank You.

- You missed the time window to confirm participation. Write to Akfaew and ask him to confirm your participation manually. The actual game should start soon, however we are doing a test game which just crashed, so there could be some problems.
- about version, I don't know and I also would like to know.

There is quite a number of bugs:
- artilery cannot take over cities
- engineers cannot convert grass to hills or mountains to hills
- some ships do not have their movements trippled

any more?
