Wieder saved us again and agreed to take the domain.
Please save the IP address of the server: 212.232.29.126 during the domain transfer in case of disruption.
The year is coming to an end.
I wish to thank maho for maintaining our longturn.org domain for the past few years and meshugga for providing us with a server.
There would of course be no Longturn without the people who choose to practice the fine art of patience! May your turns be long.
A special thank you to wieder for keeping the community together! There was a time when Longturn was on the brink of death, but he stepped up and kept it running.
The first Longturn game was played in 2004, this year will make it the fifteenth year running! May we have fifteen more years.
I don't know what that was, but since it didn't want to stop I blocked it on the firewall.
You must use a 2.5 version of the game.

Wieder seems to have disappeared, I hope everything is fine. I don't know what's going on. If someone was considering stepping up and preparing a game, now is a good time
There is no point in confirming weeks or months before the game starts.
3 cities already built? Sounds like a painfully boring first two weeks.
Yes, a scenario game cannot be ranking as it's not fair, according to how we perceive fairness.
Yes, we can only run 2.5 games now.
Did you play longturn before Sketlux? Are you aware of our modifications?
I don't know how to use modpacks, you'd need to explain how a scenario is different from a regular game, but other than that I see no obstacles.
And so it has ended.
The logistics of our operation were very advanced, perhaps some day someone will find the time to create a write up.
I object.
Traffic doesn't get corrupt.
I object to cgalik's post, winning or not.
What? This is nonsensical. If that is the case then I object to my winning post.
When life seems hard, the courageous do not lie down and accept defeat; instead, they are all the more determined to struggle for a better future.

pipo, I didn't work hard for three months just to mark everyone as a winner. The game isn't decided, as history proves. The rules permit that I can make the winning post, now that Drew has made the wonder. But I guess someone else would object. Let's try it your way:
I make the winning post.
Marking everyone as a winner is super lame in my book. To victory or death. I object.
I wish for a break as well.
It would have been a good idea to censor out the IPs so that google doesn't index them...
Game is lagging, for longer than usual, over 10 minutes now. If anyone has done something unusual that they believe might have caused this, please let me know so I can let the Freeciv developers know.
I'll be away on holiday from 14.02 until 23 or 24.02. I will be delegating to mrsynical.
Please use the latest version of 2.5. Only bug fixes are commited when the minor version is increased.
The replacement was successful, welcome Latexi95. We now have another idler, Goody. His 3 turns of idleness were lost during the game reload (idleness is not saved).
A couple of people thought that restart = regenerate the map. There is no reason for that, the map is good. I don't know what other word other than "restart" I should use. Maybe saying "server restart" instead of "game restart" would be clearer.
The game was restarted, this patch was applied: https://github.com/longturn/freeciv-S2_ … e3fe684893
This was needed because a player didn't report he couldn't connect to the test games, and only decided to let me know when the real game started.
It happened once before, that our DNS server stopped working. So a reminder to new players to save the IP of the game server somewhere: 212.232.29.125 - just in case.
Here is the script used for the analysis: https://github.com/longturn/games/blob/ … t_sizes.pl
We looked at 100 maps. We filtered out maps that had arctic attached to the start continent, or that had too big of a start continent. In the end we settled for map number 9
In the output above we can see that the biggest continent is 48% of the total landmass, the 3rd biggest continent is half-arctic, and that 8 continents have a size bigger than 100.
