Hi, I have to go away for 30 days, and the laptop I'm travelling with won't have Freeciv on it, and where I'm going I'm going to have very limited opportunity to get on any other computer, so I need somebody to take over the Ruthenians for a while.

Can somebody find me a babysitter, please?

Thanks Wieder, I never get to see these unless you share them.

It would be good if we had one every 10 turns, maybe?

This Livy report disappoints me: there are 33 nations that are more pacifistic than mine.

COmputers really are rubbish, aren't they...

Yes, and if you have a river, that's even better.

A coal/River gives you 2/2/1
And Wine/River gives you 2/1/4

Mining them makes that 2/3/1 & 2/2/4.

So a Wine square would have to be the best place to put your first couple of cities?

The next best would be grassland/river 2/1/2.

Actually, I got that wrong - a city on coal/river/mine is giving 2/4/1

I think I must be a bit fussier than you about my city placement - Haven't founded any yet!

"Switched Darwin's Voyage and Eiffel Tower (Darwin was earlier than Eiffel)."

Darwin is about the scientific revolution.
Eiffel Tower was about the Industrial revolution.
Darwin *should* be first.

I'm just saying that in my very humble opinion, the map is way too big - each Island can take more than 12 cities I think, maybe 15. And being on an island makes for a very slow start. But then I've only played 1 LT before, so I guess I haven't tried all the things you already have.

#10 Re: LT31 » Changes » 2012-11-10 10:27:51

What about the map? - are we seriously going to be playing a huge map with everybody separated onto islands? This is not a recipe for fun.

Please, not an islands map....

So, is there an ETA on this game coming back up?

#14 Re: LTeX23B » Ltex32b giving connection refused » 2012-06-27 05:18:52

I can't get on either. I just get "The operation completed successfully" but it doesn't give me anything.

Ah brilliant - managed to get on with 29 minutes to spare to get my orders in for the day.

Thanks you're a lifesaver.

#16 Re: LT30 » Troubles in connecting to the game » 2012-02-16 21:57:00

For the last 14 hours-or-so I can't even see the game in my "Internet Metaserver" box.

What can I do?

#18 Re: LT30 » LT30 idle player notification and substitution list » 2012-02-03 06:56:57

Do I need a password? It seems to expect me to enter one....

#20 Re: LT30 » LT30 idle player notification and substitution list » 2012-02-02 07:17:13

SO, say I want to take over Chalkface - what do I do?

How do I connect to the game? I can see it advertised on "Internet Metaserver"...

#21 Re: LT30 » LT30 idle player notification and substitution list » 2012-02-02 03:06:19

Can you add me in? Never player multiplayer before, but I know how to play Civ.

I'm just off to find and install Jabber....
