Looks like very few people have been ale to use funda except for defensive purposes in the mid game. The idea has been making all the govs to become actually usable. This is why fundamentalism now becomes available with Astronomy. There is some historical background to this as there has been ancient govs with funda like characteristics. The penalty for sci is also -25% instead of -50%. Keep this in mind and check if it's good or bad for you. This is a new feature to both web-players and longturn.old players. I don't believe anyone has played with this meaning that no one gets advantage from that.

Understanding astronomy has made people to focus more or less on religious elements for more than once in the history. In the future we might make a new tech for getting funda. Now it's about as expensive as getting republic which has been the favorite for lots of veteran players. Even without celebration growth.

Not Monotheism?
The ancient greeks and romans where pretty good at astronomy and very religiously tolerant of many polytheistic and philosophical beliefs. (Except the Spartans, but I think they are more Tribal..)
Fundamentalists arrived with the old testament Jews and Christians...
Same for the phoneicians, egyptians etc. until Mohammed got his fundamentalists together to conquer N africa.
Monotheistic Medieval Europe was peak fundamentalist..

Look forward to trying it though.maybe an improved Despotism (Shit economy high growth?), so that it is an option with pyramids, would be nice.

I actually planned to add it with monotheism but the new sci cost system made monotheism so expensive compared to republic (maybe 400+ bulbs vs 1200+ bulbs) that it needed to be cheaper to remain competitive. I'm not sure if it really holds water but they had pretty good Astronomy in the ancient South America and the religion also played a big role there.

In LT43 monarchy is now made better and tribalism slightly less that great with different number of free units they can support. I'll make a summary for the changes and also try to make some kind of summary for the web-players but that's hard since the base ruleset for LT games is civ2civ3 and not multiplayer.
